We are looking for a part-time Speech Language Pathologist or
Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to float between our NW and
SW centers.
Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for:
- Assessing, treating, and helping prevent disorders related to
speech, language, cognitive communication, swallowing, and
fluency.
- Identifying and providing therapeutic intervention for clients
with communication problems related to deficits in expressive and
receptive language, memory, attention, and problem solving.
- When appropriate, selects alternative forms of communication
via sign language, low tech devices, and high-tech augmentative
communication devices.
- Ensures staff and families understand and follow results of
medical tests and interventions related to swallow studies,
surgeries, and changes in medications.
- Communicates client needs as part of a team compiled of family,
classroom staff and peers.Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
will be responsible for:
- Under the supervision of a CRCC Supervising Speech and Language
Pathologist, as approved by DHHS (application approval required as
evidenced by issuance of an SLP Supervisor license), the SLPA in
accordance with the SLP generated treatment plan and under the
direction of the supervising SLP, treats disorders related to
speech, language, cognitive communication, swallowing, and
fluency.Speech Language Pathologist Essential
Functions/Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates physical therapy
treatments, procedures, and programs from date of evaluation
through date of discharge while adhering to professional, ethical,
and legal standards of practice.
- Reviews client records in order to determine necessary speech
and language services (screen, evaluation, and continued
treatment).
- Evaluates client to determine intervention strategies and
frequency of speech and language treatment necessary using
appropriate tests and measures.
- Makes recommendations regarding the use of adaptive equipment,
orthotics, assistive devices, and adjunct sessions with trained
staff or family members.
- Administers speech and language programs and intervention
strategies.
- Provides direct supervision to SLPAs every 30 days per
regulation.
- Modifies intervention when deemed appropriate.
- Collaborates with school therapists in order to provide
consistent and effective care.
- Trains staff in safe implementation of speech and language
therapy needs in the classroom.
- Records all pertinent data in the client's medical
records.
- Provides and record all relevant paperwork and client
information (evaluations, re-evaluations, daily notes, plan of care
updates, and discharge summaries) per policies and procedures for
the therapy department.
- Assists with the recruiting and pre-screening of therapy
clients.
- Provides proper documentation for ordering necessary therapy
equipment, supplies and assessment tools as needed.
- Enters weekly schedule into the EHR system the prior
Wednesday.
- Respectfully communicates with parents/caregivers and serve as
a resource for information relevant to client care, using Life
Loop.Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Essential
Functions/Responsibilities
- Assist with speech, language and feeding therapy services as
directed in the individualized plan of care developed by the
supervising SLP which includes the delivery of therapeutic
exercises, activities and interventions.
- Follow the daily patient schedule as planned communicating with
supervising SLP or the available rehab department leadership as
needed regarding scheduling changes.
- Consistently meet productivity expectations as assigned.
- Monitor treatment progress. The SLPA will monitor progress of
patients and record in treatment daily notes and in ongoing
communication with supervising SLP.
- Thorough documentation of interventions and progress on
treatment goals to be completed by the end of each workday.
- Preparing and managing therapy materials as directed by SLPs or
rehab department leadership.
- Follows DHHS regulations for SLP Supervisors and SLPAs to
include:
- Supervising SLP must provide direct onsite supervision for the
first two treatment sessions of each patient's care.
- Supervising SLP will be required to provide 20% of treatment
sessions during a plan of care period (90 days).
- Participate in at least 10 hours of in-service training per
registration period, either formal or informal, which is directly
related to the particular services provided by the SLPA.
- Participate in semi-annual performance evaluations prepared and
delivered by supervising SLP on a 1:1 basis.
- On a weekly basis, communicate availability for upcoming week
to the rehab department Lead for scheduling purposes.Speech

status and clearance with the Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central
Registry and/or Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry and the Nebraska State
Patrol.Minimum Qualifications for Speech Language Pathologist
Assistant
- Current active license in state of Nebraska.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications disorders,
or an associate degree or equivalent with equivalent
coursework.
- Able to meet agency's conditions of employment regarding health
status and clearance with the Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central
Registry and/or Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry and the Nebraska State
Patrol.
