Registered Nurse (RN) works as an integral member of the
inter-professional collaborative practice team administering
community-based strategies aimed at improving the health of the
community through education, health screening and coordinating
evidence-based programming. Responsible for utilizing the nursing
process to provide nursing care to assigned area including shelters
and non-structured community based settings across the continuum of
care. Assists individuals in accessing specialized programs through
the use of screenings and referrals. Considers evidence-based
outcomes when selecting interventions. Depending on location and
home health needs, may perform as a respite care nurse. Maintains
relationships with the local and regional community, including
churches and other service organizations, to promote continued
support and capacity building. May assist in organizing and
performing community flu shot clinics based on needs of the
population. Identifies, strengthens and links with the community's
tangible resources, including schools, businesses, local service
groups, and intangible resources such as community spirit.
Recruits, trains and retains community volunteers. Demonstrate
critical thinking skills to analyze data and appropriately respond
to changing or difficult situations. The nursing process is
utilized to assess, diagnose, establish a patient centered plan
with defined outcome criteria; this plan includes interventions and
means of evaluating the human responses to actual or potential
health problems. Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of
nursing care during a specified work period when they are present
in the community setting. This practice includes dependent,
interdependent and independent functions. Practices within the full
scope of nursing expertise with knowledge of and utilizing
appropriate age related nursing standards. Functions within the
scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse
Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and
licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the
Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses
with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses
Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and
professional conduct. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing
preferred. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program
preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in
Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for
Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Currently holds an
unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the
practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate
licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and
subsequently maintains required department specific competencies
and certifications. Additional training and certification may be
required for area of focus within first year of employment,
including but not limited to, Foot and Nail Care Education Course
with a clinical component and demonstrate competence in foot care
skills and/or be a Certified Foot and Nail Care Nurse, or
Foundations in Faith Community Nursing course. Benefits Sanford
