JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Staff position is responsible for coordinating and
implementing care plans for patients under the direct supervision
of a health care provider.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Work with members of the health care team to coordinate patient
care services, including preparation of patients for examination or
treatment, gathering of information including reason for visit and
related patient information. Perform vital signs, height, weight,
and screening procedures and document findings in the electronic
health record (EHR).
2. Ensure accurate documentation is maintained, relay instructions
to patients, schedule follow-up appointments, and help ensure
timely patient flow.
3. Collect and/or assist providers in collection of specimens, as
required, using appropriate protocols. Complete requisitions, label
and route specimens according to clinic protocol.
4. Adhere to infection control standards including, but not limited
to, hand hygiene, use of PPE, isolation of patient with known
infectious disease, and equipment disinfection/sterilization.
5. Assist with special procedures and examinations following
appropriate protocols such as infection control, universal
protocol, and patient identification.
6. Maintain organization and cleanliness of examination rooms;
stock assigned rooms/cupboards and ensure par levels of supplies
are maintained. Ensure environmental and waste-conscious protocols
are followed.
7. Complete and monitor required logs for equipment and medication,
such as glucometer QC, refrigerator logs, and controlled substance
tracking.
8. Coordinate patient needs by communicating with various service
providers throughout the clinic. Remain accountable for information
provided via internal communication channels (email, huddles, etc.)
by reading and responding in a timely manner.
9. Answer phone calls and respond to patient messages within set
guidelines and timeframes.
10. Complete medication refills in accordance with clinic
protocol.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of patient care standards and practices to
successfully complete essential job functions.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
3. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
4. Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally
and in writing.
5. Skill in planning, organizing, and time management.
6. Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including
Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, Access, and
Outlook.
7. Skill in managing multiple priorities and problem solving.
8. Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established
goals and objectives.
9. Ability to maintain high levels of professional and personal
integrity.
10. Ability to convey professional demeanor and sound judgment in
dealing with patients' care, protection of patient privacy, and
confidentiality.
11. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
12. Ability to act as a good representative of the company.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Highschool diploma or GED required. Ability to achieve
certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, etc.). An active
medication aid, and American Heart Associate BLS/CPR certification
required. One (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant,
utilizing electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
--- This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position
requires frequent standing, walking, and computer work. This
position allows employee to moderately vary physical position or
activity for comfort.
--- Must be able to:
Stand 75% or longer of workday.
Walk 15% or longer of workday.
Sit 10% of workday.
--- Requires ability to lift and maneuver up to 35 pounds
occasionally.
--- Requires employee to: bend, squat, kneel, and reach above
shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.
--- Requires repetitive use of hands for: simple grasping, fine
manipulation, computer use.
--- Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and
hearing) corrected to near normal range.
