Specifically, this position reviews intelligence sources, searches for and identifies cyber threats, promptly reports any suspicious or unauthorized events, and coordinates appropriate responses with ITS and campus IT support teams. Occasionally, work outside of regular business hours may be required to respond to incidents or service outages.The responsibilities include:

• Responding to security alerts and investigating root causes.
• Assisting with the implementation and administration of the University's information security program.
• Safeguarding information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems and risks.
• Requirements management, solution recommendations, and project management in support of strategic security projects.
• Providing timely, clear verbal and written communications related to all projects and operational activities.
• Analyzing customer needs and capturing requirements from security and identity perspectives.
• Developing and maintaining systems and policies to ensure the security of information and data assets.
• Performing analysis and judgment outside established protocols requiring a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
• Implementing security policies and procedures (e.g., user log-on and authentication rules).
• Researching requirements and writing draft policies.
• Working with external contractors and vendors for completion of plans and projects.
• Monitoring procedures and compliance with security policies.
• Monitoring emerging network threats and consulting with IT professionals and user departments.
• Testing and/or managing University systems, infrastructure, and applications as necessary.This position will uphold the ITS core principles of outstanding collaboration and communication, a drive to succeed, a passion for higher learning, and acting with integrity.Minimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree required; equivalency considered.Experience: Two years experience in information technology or security experience required.Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required.Preferred: Experience within a higher education environment and experience using security tools (vulnerability scanners, intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, VPNs, data loss prevention, etc.).
